Yes. In the first semester of the course, specific classes (recorded) will be made available in the student area, approaching issues related to the Term Paper.
The indication is made based on the student’s area of interest.
Yes, the stages of the research project and preliminary results are worth grades (0 or 10).
The preliminary results must contain the introduction; material and methods; preliminary results; and references. This stage must be elaborated using the Term Paper template and the file post must be done via MOVE-Term Paper System and within the deadline.
Yes, the presentation must be submitted to the organizing committee via MOVE-Term Paper System in the format of a .ppt or .pptx file in the period established by the course coordination. This stage must be elaborated using the MBA-ESALQ standard template and identified with the student’s full name.
Yes. The coordination of the program will appoint an advisor to assist the student in the Term Paper elaboration.
Yes. It is possible to request an advisor transfer through a written explanation of the reasons for the request. The coordination of the program will evaluate each case to direct the student to an advisor who meets better their profile. Transfer requests should be submitted to the coordination of the program before the submission of the preliminary results of the paper via e-mail.
For the evaluation of the research project and the preliminary results, the file submitted by the student in the MOVE-Term Paper System will be considered and the assignment of the grade will be made by the advisor. If the student submits the above stages within the prescribed period, a grade of 10.0 (ten) will be assigned to the activities, provided that the documents contain the topics and the minimum content defined in the guide Instructions for the Term Paper Elaboration. If the documents do not follow the structure and the minimum content, a grade of 0.0 (zero) will be assigned. The grade of each of the stages is equivalent to the test (P) of a taught class.
The final version of the Term Paper, that is, the version that the examining board will evaluate, must be submitted as a digital file elaborated in Word (.doc or .docx extensions), formatted according to the standards of the MBA USP/ESALQ, duly approved by the advisor and identified with the student’s full name. The post must be done via MOVE-Term Paper System and within the deadline, defined and disclosed with due and necessary antecedence.
Although the student may choose a possible advisor to help in their Term Paper, it is up to the coordination of the program to define the most appropriate advisor for each student, matching the theme of the paper to the research line (field of study) of the accredited advisors.
The elaboration of the Term Paper consists of nine stages. The first stage is related to the Term Paper elaboration classes; The second stage is choosing the field of study of the Term Paper; The third stage is the designation of the advisor, carried out by the PECEGE team; The fourth stage corresponds to the elaboration of the research project; The fifth stage refers to the submission of the preliminary results (title; introduction; material and methods; preliminary results; references); The sixth stage covers the submission of the Term Paper (title; abstract or summary; introduction; material and methods; results and discussion, conclusion or final considerations, references) and scheduling the presentation; The seventh stage corresponds to the submission of the presentation file; The eighth stage is the presentation of the Term Paper and the final tests in the Event held by PECEGE; And the ninth stage is the submission of the revised version of the Term Paper if it is requested, within 30 days after the presentation.
After the designation of the advisor, the student will have a deadline to submit the research project. The project must contain the title of the project; introduction; objective; material and methods; expected results; schedule of activities; and references. This document must be elaborated in the available paper model and must be sent via MOVE-Term Paper System.
The scheduling of the Term Paper presentation will be performed only via MOVE-Term Paper System and will be released only after the submission of the finished Term Paper as a digital file (.doc or .docx extensions), and during the period established by the course coordination. The student must schedule the day and time of the presentation, according to the advisor and rooms availability. After the scheduling is performed, it is not possible to change the date and/or time. We recommend that the Term Paper submission be made as soon as possible if the student has any day or time restriction since the number of rooms is limited per schedule.
In case the examining board requests corrections of the paper, the student will have the deadline of 30 days after the Term Paper presentation to submit the final version of the Term Paper (digital file with the .doc or .docx extension) via MOVE-Term Paper System. The file must be formatted according to the standards of the MBA USP/ESALQ, duly approved by the advisor and identified with the student’s full name. For students who are “in grade recovery” in the presentation, the submission of the revised Term Paper is mandatory, since the revised version of the paper will be re-evaluated to verify whether the student met the requests of the examining board.

After the end of the Event, the coordinators of each course will choose the best Term Paper, considering the best ones evaluated by the examining board. The selection of the winner will take into account criteria such as technical quality (clear, objective and coherent writing); content (objectivity and organization, linearity of thought, good literature review); scientific contribution (relevant theme, innovation in the application of concepts and overcoming gaps in knowledge) or contribution to continuing education and social benefit (relevant theme and innovation in the application of concepts); Probable impacts (academic-scientific or social relevance, practical application for problem-solving and improvements, contribution to the scientific community or the society in a broader way). The result will be disclosed on the digital media of MBA USP/ESALQ (Website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, MyClass). The award will be granted in a recognition certificate form and an integral scholarship in one of the Distance Education MBA courses offered by USP/ESALQ, at the discretion of the winner. All the papers with a scheduled Term Paper presentation are enrolled to compete for the prize. Due to measures to prevent the dissemination of COVID-19, the University of São Paulo suspended the final tests in in-person format for an indeterminate time, so, the presentation will happen online in a distance education format until new measures and instructions are adopted. In case of change, the students will be informed in due advance so that they can prepare themselves.
In order to complete the course, the student must take the final tests – (i) knowledge test and (ii) interpretation of text/case in the field of the content of the course completed by the student. The tests will be applied individually and will consist of multiple-choice questions. Approval in the final tests is guaranteed if the average of the two tests is equal to or greater than seven (7.0). Therefore, the tests will take place online until new measures and instructions are adopted. The final tests will be carried out via the academic system before the presentation of the Term Paper on a date scheduled by the coordination of the courses. In case of any changes, students will be informed in advance of the schedule.
